The Omaha Titans picked up a win at The Ballpark at Potomac Yard , knocking off the Las Vegas Gamblers, 3-2. Starting pitcher Robert Cook, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 8 innings, Cook surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Bill Daniels got the save, his 24th in 25 chances.

Mike Phelps, who is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner, aided the Omaha cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the second. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Cook.

The Titans move to 48-83 with the win, while the Gamblers drop to 73-59.
