Bloomington beat Portland in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Bloomington Blazers defeated the Portland Beavers, 6-4. Earning player of the game honors was center fielder Wayne Dougherty, who went 3-4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Bloomington reliever Abhijnana Ramamani picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. Toyotomi Nakano shouldered the loss. Austin Price got credit for the save for Bloomington. It was his 16th of the year.
This game was not decided until late. With one out in the top of the ninth, Jesús Dela hit a sacrifice fly. The Blazers took the lead, 5-4.
"We'll savor this win," Dougherty told the Bloomington Chronicle, "then get ready for the next game."
The Blazers sit in last place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division with a record of 47-83.
