Victory Over Tornadoes Takes San Francisco to 79-52
|
San Francisco beat Kansas City at Debris Field, escaping with a 8-7 win. The win in large part was due to shortstop Jorge Zamora, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Lonnie Powell was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 9 save opportunities. The Earthquakes bumped their record to 79-52 with this latest triumph.
Flexing his muscles for San Francisco was Adam Kerr. The third baseman had a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth for the Earthquakes. It put his team ahead, 4-2, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Kerr went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Kerr told the San Francisco Today.
