Sasquatch Stumble, Lose to Stogies
|
The Havana Stogies trumped the Seattle Sasquatch, 8-3, at Sick's Stadium. Havana second baseman Chong-yeol Pak was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Joe Hardy picked up the win with 7.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 19-4. Abdul Razzaq Kharoti, credited with the save, is now 13 for 19 in save opportunities.
The Stogies beat the Sasquatch in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Kohei Matsumoto produced in the top of the fourth. Batting against Seattle pitcher Troy Dyer, Matsumoto gave his team a 4-1 lead when he hit a bases-clearing double.
In postgame comments to the Havana Gazette, Pak said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Havana improves to 72-58 with the win. They lead their division by 4 games.
