Hornets Reel Off Another Win
|
In a tight battle between the Eureka Hornets and the Jersey Jesters, pitcher Mitsunari Kobayashi was in the zone. The Eureka left-hander was named the player of the game in Eureka's 3-0 win. Kobayashi, now 15-4, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing no earned runs. Andrés Nevárez notched his 41st save in 42 chances.
Jorge Moreno delivered a big hit for the Hornets. The veteran right fielder belted a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. The longball put Eureka on top, 2-0. Overall, Moreno slugged 2 home runs.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Stephen Jackson.
Eureka is now riding a 8-game win streak.
