The Bloomington Blazers and San Diego Hops provided some drama at The Brew Stade.
The San Diego Hops did just enough to sneak past the Bloomington Blazers, 5-4, at The Brew Stade. San Diego pitcher Jesús Ramírez earned player of the game honors. Ramírez, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 5.2 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 2 walks. Son Mai recorded the save for San Diego, his 16th of the season.
Chipping in for San Diego was first baseman Tokuhei Taniguchi. He stroked a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, Taniguchi went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I take a professional approach to my job," said Ramírez. "I've been around this game for a while."
