Marauders Sneak Past Hops, 4-3
|
Despite a great performance by San Diego shortstop Akira Kato, the Maple Marauders defeated the Hops by the score of 4-3 at The Brew Stade. Kato went 4 for 5 with 4 singles. The winner was Maple reliever Héctor Zúñiga, now 6-2. The loser was Tyler Wakeford. Adrien Clément earned the save for Maple, his 26th of the year.
Goldi Lebel made it 4-3 in favor of Maple when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with one out in the top of the eighth. The Marauders went on to win.
"Both teams played hard," said Maple manager Arinori Nakamura.
The Marauders move to 75-50 with the win, while the Hops drop to 45-79.
