Republic Get One-Run Win at Seattle
|
In a tight contest at Sick's Stadium, the So Cal Republic edged the Seattle Sasquatch by the score of 6-5. So Cal left fielder Shaun Sharp, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Rick Hill got the win, improving to 10-5. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 11 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Christian Wallace closed the door for So Cal, picking up his 29th save of the year.
Sharp had a clutch at-bat in the top of the fourth for the Republic. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and So Cal trailing 2-1, he hit a 3-run home run.
"Shaun is still learning," said So Cal Republic manager Munenori Sato. "The sky's the limit for him."
The Republic, at 86-39, have a comfortable 16˝-game lead in their division.
