Late Magic Gets Eureka 6-5 Win
|
Maple got a terrific game from third baseman Dustin McMahon. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Eureka, 6-5. McMahon was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Prabodh Nimbalkar got the win, improving to 12-6. He worked 7 innings, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. The 'W' lifts Eureka's record to 68-55.
Carlos Hernández said the idea of hitting a home run crossed his mind when he came to bat in the top of the eighth. Hernández belted a solo home run to stake Eureka to a 6-5 lead. His 15th home run of the season came off Maple pitcher Claude Howard.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Hernández said.
