Earthquakes Nip Sasquatch, 5-4
|
The Seattle Sasquatch got a superb performance from third baseman Kazuyoshi Takahashi, but the San Francisco Earthquakes still won the game, 5-4. Takahashi was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. San Francisco reliever Ryan Lane was the winner. His record is now 6-3. The losing pitcher was Greg Ward. The Earthquakes are now 74-46, while the Sasquatch fall to 58-61.
San Francisco took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Jorge Rodríguez hit a clutch solo home run to bring Earthquakes fans to their feet.
"We found a way to get it done," Rodríguez said.
