Hitmen Stymie Bloomington, Take 5-1 Win
|
The Chicago Hitmen went home winners at SouthSide Park, thanks in large part to starter Jacob Willard. Willard silenced the Bloomington Blazers, enabling Chicago to grab the 5-1 win. Willard, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. The Blazers fall to 4-8 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2028 season.
Chicago took the lead in the bottom of the third on a big hit from Vui Vu-Pham. On a 1-0 fastball from Lou Latulippe, Vu-Pham hit a run-scoring double. That made it 1-0, Hitmen. For the day, Vu-Pham was 1 for 4 with a double.
Willard said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."
