Blazers Slip Past Seattle, 9-8
|
Bloomington beat Seattle at Sick's Stadium, escaping with a 9-8 win. The win in large part was due to left fielder Pablo López, who earned player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Bloomington reliever Luis Cruz was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Coco Yamashita took the loss. Richard Rogers closed the door for Bloomington, picking up his 8th save of the year.
The outcome might have been different had it not been for López. In the top of the ninth inning, when the Blazers were trailing 8-7, López delivered a two-out 2-run home run for Bloomington, giving his team the lead.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Blazers," said López.
Seattle has now lost 4 consecutive games.
