Hops Losing Streak at 8 After Extra-Inning Loss to Marauders
|
The San Diego Hops got a sterling performance from pitcher Jorge Ortíz, but the Marauders still prevailed, 3-2. Ortíz was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball. Maple reliever Khurshid Durrani picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Son Mai shouldered the loss. The slumping Hops have lost 8 straight.
The game came to an abrupt end with one out in the bottom of the 11th. On a pitch from Son Mai, Don Orton hit a walk-off run-scoring single. It gave Maple the 3-2 walk-off win.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Orton.
