Blazers Stumble, Lose to Jacks

Conditions were not ideal but Jacksonville and Bloomington were able to put their game in the books.
The Jacksonville Jacks defeated the Bloomington Blazers, 8-2, in Thurman Munson League action at Celestrial Fields at Hermann Park. Ángel Vázquez received player of the game honors. The 8-year veteran went 4-5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jacksonville, at 57-54, sits in 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
The tide might have turned with no one out in the bottom of the ninth, had not Ed Armstrong made a big pitch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Blazers trailing 8-2, he retired Jim Winter, who grounded out.
