Kono Lifts Toreros to 7-3 Triumph
The Cabo San Lucas Toreros defeated the Bloomington Blazers, 7-3, in Thurman Munson League action at Field de Los Layendas. Mokichi Kono received player of the game honors. The 10-year veteran hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Cabo San Lucas is 53-54 and Bloomington, with the loss, 37-69.

Kono had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 0-1 fastball from Ron Robinson, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Toreros a 5-3 lead. It was the 18th home run of the year for Kono.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Kono. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
