Big Day by Yamashita Ignites Tornadoes Win
|
Tamotsu Yamashita helped his team muscle past the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 7-2. In the game, the Kansas City right fielder went 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Ramón Vázquez picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 11-6. Kulapati Pandian sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Yamashita had an important at-bat with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the third, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Tornadoes went on to win.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Yamashita told the Kansas City Observer. "You win just by scoring more runs."
The Tornadoes raised their record to 53-51.
