Big Day by Lampley Sparks Gamblers Win
|
The Las Vegas Gamblers downed the San Diego Hops, 4-2, at The Brew Stade. The Gamblers were led by Tom Lampley, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. At 55-47, the Gamblers find themselves in third place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Dave Moore came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing San Diego pitcher José Ramos, he hit a first pitch sinker for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Las Vegas on top, 3-2.
"I thought we played a nice game," Moore told the Las Vegas Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
