Tornadoes Top Patriots to Even Record
|
Kansas City right-hander Ramón Vázquez made an effective start against the Manhattan Beach Patriots at Debris Field, leading his team to a 5-2 win. Vázquez picked up the win for Kansas City, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 10-6. Getting the save was Michael Burton, his 28th.
Tied up with the Patriots in the bottom of the fourth, the Tornadoes got a boost from center fielder Tomohiko Ogawa. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Ogawa saw a full count changeup from Kojuro Kojima and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Kansas City on top, 2-1.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Kansas City manager Alex Woods. "Our pregame was pretty good."
Kansas City now sits in third place in the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division at 50-50.
