Benefiting from Martin Whitney's productive game, the Eureka Hornets downed the Portland Beavers, 9-3. Whitney was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Hornets. Mitsunari Kobayashi earned the win for Eureka. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 10-3. The Hornets improve their record to 55-45 with the win over Portland.
