Marauders Roll to 8-2 Win Over Beavers
|
The Maple Marauders dealt the Portland Beavers a 8-2 loss at Legends Park. Gerard Leeder was the star on offense. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Maple starter Dylan Butlin was credited with the win after throwing 91 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 9-5. The Marauders now have a record of 55-43 with the win over Portland.
Maple took the lead in the bottom of the second on a big hit from Sean Clare. On a first pitch fastball from Carlos Rúbio, Clare hit a 2-run home run. That made it 3-1, Marauders. For the day, Clare was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
Leeder told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
