Danger Stumble, Lose to Stogies

Bill McIntyre had a good game, but he could not keep the Duke City Danger from falling, 8-4, to the Havana Stogies at The Humidor. The Duke City left fielder went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 in the loss. Joe Hardy was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 10 strikeouts. Abdul Razzaq Kharoti picked up the save for Havana, his 9th of the year.
The Stogies grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first. With no one out, Dan Smith hit a 2-run home run off Elvis Callahan, putting Havana in front, 2-1. For Smith, it was his 2nd home run of the season.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Reynaldo Vázquez said.
The first-place Stogies, at 58-40, now lead their division by 2½ games.
