Hornets Pick Up 3-1 Win
Eureka starter Pat Sheffield put a stranglehold on the Mile High offense. The right-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Hornets to a 3-1 win. Sheffield got the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Sheffield allowed 1 earned run. The Mustangs fall to 3-6 and continue their wobbly start to the 2028 season.

In the top of the fifth, César Soto had a big solo home run off Charles Wilson. With the home run, the Eureka catcher put his team in front, 1-0. He was 1-3 with a home run and a walk in the contest.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Soto.
