Beavers Suffer 11-7 Setback
Portland right fielder António Barbarro was sensational. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 6 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Kansas City beat the Beavers, 11-7. Barbarro was named the player of the game despite the loss. Kansas City reliever José Rivera picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. Carlos Rúbio shouldered the loss. The win puts the Tornadoes at 44-48, while the Beavers drop to 46-47.

Tsunayoshi Tanaka had a big 2-run single for the Tornadoes in the top of the seventh inning. With Kansas City leading 8-7 and the bases loaded, he got a knuckle curve from Pablo Alomar and stroked the single to center. It was his 95th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tornadoes ahead, 10-7.

Tanaka told a Kansas City Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
