McCarthy Shines in Tornadoes Win
A 4-RBI performance from Todd McCarthy, who is a two-time All-Star, helped the Kansas City Tornadoes beat the Portland Beavers, 8-4. Francisco Rolón got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 1 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 3. The 6th-place Tornadoes improved to 43-48.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when designated hitter Jesús Cruz, who is a seven-time All-Star, hit a run-scoring single. The Tornadoes went on to win.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Cruz told reporters after the game.
