Portland Beavers starter Fernando López turned in a top-notch performance against the Kansas City Tornadoes at Waterfront Park. The result was a win for the Beavers, 6-2. The Beavers' win now puts them at 46-45.
Maracaibo, Venezuela-born António Barbarro came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st and the Beavers trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run home run to right to put Portland on top.
"Fernando was throwing strikes, locating well," said Portland manager Ryan Blandford.
