The Patriots had to overcome a fine performance from New York pitcher Ronald Lee to grab a 4-1 win at Don Corleone Park. Lee allowed 1 earned run over 8 innings. Joachim Doucet recorded his 26th save for Manhattan Beach. The Patriots improved to 47-43.
Luis Rodríguez's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from Kunihiko Mizuno for a 2-run double. It put Manhattan Beach in front, 3-1.
"I like what I saw today," said Manhattan Beach manager Randall Hardy, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
