5-for-5 Day for López
|
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Juan López is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Cabo San Lucas Toreros at Golden Gate Park today. The monster effort from the 26-year-old first baseman helped the San Francisco Earthquakes take the win, 9-4.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Toreros manager José Núñez. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Juan López singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Luis Sánchez in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Clarence Byrd in the 8th.
Looking at his stats this year, López has compiled a .328 batting average, while hitting 16 home runs and driving in 72 runs. He has played in 81 games and scored 48 runs.
