Holmes goes 3-for-5, Republic Move to 8-1
|
The So Cal Republic beat the Seattle Sasquatch, 10-6, at Sick's Stadium. So Cal designated hitter Nick Holmes earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Matt Quinlan was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. So Cal, at 8-1, has sizzled in the early going.
Going deep for So Cal was Ebrahim Magsi. The third baseman had a 3-run home run in the top of the second for the Republic. It put his team ahead, 3-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Magsi went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Magsi told the So Cal News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
