Despite a great performance by Las Vegas designated hitter Roberto Torres, the San Diego Hops defeated the Gamblers by the score of 4-3 at The Brew Stade. Torres was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Walt Lawson was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 10 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. Jorge Ortíz closed it out for his 1st save.
In the bottom of the first, Jejomar Butardo had a big 3-run home run off Ze-dong Zhang. With the home run, the San Diego right fielder put his team in front, 4-1. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once in the contest.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Las Vegas manager Jesús Alfaro.
San Diego has now won 3 in a row.
