Maple Takes League Pennant
|
The Maple Marauders clubhouse was doused in champagne tonight at The Nest, after the team wrapped up the League Pennant.
Maple downed the Eureka Hornets 6-0 to win the series 4-1.
"There's no champagne if you lose, so it's a pretty sweet thing to taste," said first baseman George Soucy, who was named series MVP.
For the series, Soucy hit .316 with a .435 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 8 RBI and scored 3 runs.
While they may not get the sweet taste of champagne this year, the Hornets will no doubt be drowning their sorrows tonight.
"It's never easy to lose a playoff series and I don't think there's a single guy in our room who is going to be able to easily accept that our season is now over," said Eureka manager Stephen Jackson.
The Maple Marauders don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Havana Stogies - So Cal Republic series. Havana leads the series 3 games to 2. The ABL World Series schedule will be announced after the League Pennant finishes.
