Marauders Win Again, Extend Series Lead to 3-0
|
The Maple Marauders and the Eureka Hornets went into extra innings at The Nest today, with Maple emerging victorious. The 4-3 win means the Marauders are now a game away from sweeping the Hornets from the League Pennant. Marauders right-hander Steve McBryde was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters . Maple holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
The Marauders beat the Hornets in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Sal Ostendorff produced in the top of the 22nd. Batting against Eureka pitcher Chong-su Yi, Ostendorff gave his team a 4-3 lead when he hit a run-scoring double.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Arinori Nakamura.
The next game is scheduled for Sunday, October 29th, 2028 at The Nest. The scheduled starters for the game are Yasuhiko Ito for the Marauders and Mitsunari Kobayashi for the Hornets.
