Maple Defends Home Turf in Divisional Championship Opener
|
San Francisco left fielder Lorenzo Atilano pounded Maple Marauders pitchers at Legends Park, but it was not enough to keep the Earthquakes from falling, 11-6 in Game 1 of the Divisional Championship. Atilano went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Earthquakes slip to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-7 series.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Marauders had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when right fielder Terry Pulh Jr. hit a 3-run home run. The home run came off Ryan Lane and made the score 4-1, Marauders. Pulh Jr. went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"I like easy wins," Pulh Jr. told the Maple Gazette. "And easy wins in the playoffs are even better."
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17th, 2028 at Legends Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Ryan Lane for the Earthquakes and Dylan Butlin for the Marauders.
