Portland Takes Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
The Portland Beavers faced a challenging opponent in Eureka Hornets left-hander Morgan Tyson, but did just enough to squeak out a 3-2 win in Game 3 of the Divisional Championship today. Portland now leads 2-1 in the best-of-7 series. The Beavers won despite the Hornets getting an excellent start from starter Tyson, who allowed 3 earned runs at scattered 4 hits over 7 innings.
Jesús Cruz brought the hometown crowd to its feet with one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when the 32-year old first baseman belted a solo home run. With the round-tripper, the Beavers took the lead, 3-2.
"We haven't forgotten how long this series might be, but 2-1 is a hell of a lot better than 1-2," Cruz said.
The next game is set to be played on Friday, October 20th, 2028 at Waterfront Park. Slated to start are Mitsunari Kobayashi for the Hornets and Kent Williams for the Beavers.
