Portland Takes 1-0 Lead in Divisional Championship
The Portland Beavers started the Divisional Championship in style today, winning on the road against the Eureka Hornets at The Nest by a score of 7-1 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Beavers designated hitter Jesús Cruz was named player of the game after he belted 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice.

Cruz in the top of the fifth had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Beavers leading 3-1, he hit a grand slam.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Portland manager Ryan Blandford said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

The next game is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17th, 2028 at The Nest. The scheduled starters for the game are Iván Morales for the Beavers and Prabodh Nimbalkar for the Hornets.
