Home Field Advantage: Petit, Maple Open League Pennant With Win
|
The Maple Marauders started the League Pennant in style today, downing the visiting Eureka Hornets at Legends Park by a score of 4-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Marauders shortstop Jean-Claude Petit was named player of the game after he hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice.
Had Petit not come through in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Petit hit a 2-run home run. The Marauders never looked back after taking the 4-3 lead.
"You never want to start a series with a loss, but I saw a lot of good things today," Hornets manager Stephen Jackson said. "I'm not worrying. Yet."
The next game is set to be played on Thursday, October 26th, 2028 at Legends Park. Slated to start are Morgan Tyson for Eureka and Dylan Butlin for Maple.
