Marauders Hammered by Oakes, Drop Game 1 to Stogies
|
The Havana Stogies started the ABL World Series in style today, winning on the road against the Maple Marauders at Legends Park by a score of 9-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Stogies shortstop John Oakes was named player of the game after he went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times.
Havana took the lead in the top of the sixth. With no one out and the bases empty, Gulloo Sandip stroked a solo home run to make it 3-2, Stogies.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Oakes said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The next game is scheduled for Saturday, November 4th, 2028 at Legends Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Peter Miner for Havana and Dylan Butlin for Maple.
