Fairfield Takes Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
Game 5 was big. So was Ramón Gómez.
The Fairfield starter rose to the occasion at Cobb Field today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Flash to a crucial 3-2 victory over the Billings Mustangs. Gómez threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball as the Flash won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Triple A World Series.
One of the key players for the Flash was first baseman Jorge Ramírez, who drilled a 2-run double in the top of the third inning. For the game, Ramírez went 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"We were in it," said Billings manager Keith Irwin. "We just didn't score enough runs."
Game 6 is set to be played on Tuesday, October 17th, 2028 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Robert Howard for the Mustangs and Saiyid Mashwanis for the Flash.
