Billings Breaks Through for First Win in Triple A World Series; Now Trails 2-1
|
Already down, the Billings Mustangs put on their best show, beating the Fairfield Flash by a final score of 5-4 today. Way-ming Wang earned player of the game honors, as he was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Billings now trails Fairfield 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
The clutch at-bat in the bottom of the ninth belonged to Wang. Facing José Marino with runners on 1st and 2nd, the Billings designated hitter had a run-scoring single. Game over, walk-off style!
"It's a huge change in atmosphere versus last game," Wang said after the win. "I feel like we're back in the mix now. We just can't let up."
The next game is scheduled for Saturday, October 14th, 2028 at Cobb Field. Slated to start are Yeong-suk Kim for the Flash and Takeshi Gato for the Mustangs.
