River Chiefs Stakes 3-2 Lead with 5-4 Win
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the Sioux City Knights on the road at Knights Field by a score of 5-4. River Chiefs right-hander Felipe Arreola was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the River Chiefs a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Single A World Series.
With scoring opportunities rare, the River Chiefs had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the seventh, when shortstop Yoshino Sugimoto hit a 2-run single. The single came off Curt Woods and made the score 5-3, River Chiefs. Sugimoto went 1 for 1, while adding 2 RBI.
"Huge," Arreola said. "Game 5 is huge."
The next game is scheduled for Sunday, October 15th, 2028 at The Reservation. Slated to start are Charlie Bennett for the Knights and Tony López for the River Chiefs.
