Stogies, Republic Play 11 to Settle Game 1, Havana Now Leads Series 1-0
One game in and the League Pennant is already looking exhausting.

The Havana Stogies and the So Cal Republic needed 11 innings to settle Game 1, with the Stogies finally taking the 3-2 victory at House of the Republic. Earning player of the game honors in the win was Havana starting pitcher Joe Hardy, who threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. The Stogies and Republic will play a best-of-7 series.

Runs were at a premium. So, Oscar Jones's at-bat with two out in the top of the 11th was crucial. The Havana third baseman hit a run-scoring single, to give his team a 3-2 lead.

"I hate extra innings," Havana manager Reynaldo Vázquez said. "It makes everyone more tired, wears out the bullpen, wears out the fans. Even winning doesn't make me feel good about it."

Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday, October 26th, 2028 at House of the Republic. The scheduled starters for the game are Terry Hill for the Stogies and Tanner Johnson for the Republic.
