Havana Grabs 2-1 Lead in Divisional Championship
|
With catcher Arturo Velásquez leading the charge, the Havana Stogies got a road win over the Brooklyn Black Knights, 9-7, in Game 3 of the Divisional Championship today. Velásquez went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 at Blue Ivy Stadium to help Havana take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Qian Thean had a clutch at-bat with two out in the top of the ninth for the Stogies. Coming up with runners on 1st and 2nd and Havana trailing 7-6, he hit a 3-run home run.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Thean, "but a win in the playoffs is nothing to sniff at."
Game 4 is set to be played on Friday, October 20th, 2028 at Blue Ivy Stadium. Slated to start are Joe Hardy for the Stogies and Jan Shirazi for the Black Knights.
