Kimura, Emeralds Wallop River Chiefs in Game 5 of Single A League Championship
|
The Eugene Emeralds have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Chippewa River Chiefs, winning 6-4 at Prefontaine Park today. Emeralds first baseman Masayuki Kimura was named player of the game after he was 3 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Emeralds to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Single A League Championship.
A key moment came in the bottom of the seventh inning when Emeralds right fielder Iván Romo socked a 2-2 curveball to center for a run-scoring single, putting Eugene up, 4-3.
"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Eugene manager Tom Becker told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the Single A League Championship, it's only going to get harder."
The next game is set to be played on Friday, October 6th, 2028 at The Reservation. Slated to start are Cai-fei Men for the Emeralds and Tony López for the River Chiefs.
