Almost There: Brooklyn On Cusp of Divisional Round Triumph After 9-1 Win
|
The Brooklyn Black Knights moved to within one game of the Divisional Championship today, downing the Columbus Codebreakers on the road at Central Park Downtown Stadium by a score of 9-1. Black Knights right-hander Rob Young was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Black Knights a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Round.
Brooklyn designated hitter Tony De La Garza contributed to the cause with a 2-run double in the top of the fifth. For the game, De La Garza was 1-3 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
"Coach said he wanted 8 innings, so I decided to do him one better," Young said later.
Game 5 is scheduled for Thursday, October 12th, 2028 at Central Park Downtown Stadium. Slated to start are Felipe Clavijo for the Black Knights and Sotatsu Hayagawa for the Codebreakers.
