Pitkeathy Handcuffs Storm Troopers, Rats Seize 1-0 Advantage in Double A League Championship
|
Adam Pitkeathy and the Rock River Rats opened the Double A League Championship in brilliant fashion today, shutting out the visiting San Antonio Storm Troopers at The Rat Hole 8-0 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Pitkeathy, the Rats right-hander, was named player of the game as he threw 7 innings of shutout ball.
Rock River catcher Matthew Robinson helped the Rats to the win. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the 25-year old catcher stroked a 2-run home run. For the game, Robinson was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Rock River manager John Smiley.
Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday, September 30th, 2028 at The Rat Hole. Slated to start are Abdul-Rahim Barakah for San Antonio and Kichibei Endo for Rock River.
