The Mile High Mustangs stopped the Portland Beavers, 8-3, at McNichols Stadium. The Mustangs got a big game from Marshall Dempsey, who went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Mile High reliever Nate Gary picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Iván Morales shouldered the loss. Mile High's record now stands at 29-50, placing them last in the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division.

The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fifth when Dempsey, who leads the TML in total bases with 186, hit a grand slam home run. It propelled the Mustangs into the lead, 7-3.

Dempsey called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
