The inspired effort of Oklahoma City first baseman William Lee was not enough to prevent a 6-3 loss to the Kansas City Tornadoes. Lee went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Kansas City reliever Loeck Jurgens was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Benjamin Bertrand took the loss for Oklahoma City. Kansas City is 37-42 and Oklahoma City, with the loss, 39-40.

Jesús Cruz delivered a big hit for the Tornadoes. The veteran first baseman belted a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first. The longball put Kansas City on top, 4-0. Overall, Cruz was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Cruz.
