Jedi Knights Take Close Win Over Frosties
|
The New Orleans Jedi Knights got a rain-soaked win over the Barrow Frosties at The Republic.
New Orleans beat Barrow at The Republic, eking out a 2-1 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Felipe Pérez, who earned player of the game honors. Yoichibei Aoki got credit for the win, improving to 6-5. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings.
Ryuzaburo Nishiyama found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Barrow hurler Minoru Aoki, the 19-year-old third baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run. His 22nd walk of the season put the Jedi Knights on top, 2-1.
"I was a little disappointed," said Barrow manager Ismael Rodríguez. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The Frosties, at 87-73, have lost 4 straight games.
