Frosties Turn Back Coney Island, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Barrow Frosties and the Coney Island Cyclones, pitcher Topan Alisjahbana was the difference between victory and defeat. The Barrow right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 Frosties win. Matt Calderón, the winner, improved to 9-0. He held the Cyclones to 1 runs on 3 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 2. Tokuhei Yano earned the save, his 30th.
Alisjahbana came through for Barrow with one out in the bottom of the first. With Barrow tied 0-0, Alisjahbana hit a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Frosties up, 2-0.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Barrow skipper Ismael Rodríguez. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
The Frosties now have a record of 87-69.
