Baltimore Blue Claws starter Dave Young turned in a sterling performance against the Kingwood Knights, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. In 5.1 innings, Young surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Tim Stady was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 26 of 32 save opportunities.
Alfredo Gómez drove in one run for Baltimore. In the bottom of the fourth, with the teams deadlocked, 1-1, Gómez delivered for the Blue Claws. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put Baltimore on top, 2-1.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Baltimore manager David Parker said.
With the win, the Blue Claws have a record of 93-56.
