Jedi Knights Get Past Nichols for 4-3 Win
|
The Jedi Knights had to overcome a fine performance from Nichols pitcher Kazuhiro Kamida to grab a 4-3 win at The Pond. Kamida allowed no earned runs over 7.2 innings. The winner was Yoichibei Aoki in relief. His record improves to 4-5. Katsuyuki Noguchi took the loss. Yoshikazu Ichihara was called on to finish, recording his 19th save.
The most important at-bat for New Orleans came in the top of the ninth inning, when pinch hitter José Gonzáles stroked a 0-1 sinker to center for a run-scoring single, putting New Orleans up, 4-3.
"We're just going to try to build off this win," said Gonzáles.
The Jedi Knights' win now puts them at 76-71.
